We are pleased to have been awarded a new build Boiler project for a recently repatriated  Avonside locomotive... Owned by Mr John Moorhouse, of Derbyshire, we have been commissioned to supply a new build replacement boiler for his Avonside locomotive,No: 1909, built in 1922,  currently at Bala Lake Railway.

 

Whilst John progresses restoration of the main frames and running gear, we have been working to produce new drawings, taken from the orginals, and have started manufacture of platework and fittings...

The boiler is being bult to conform to the latest ped regulations under the new Ukca mark, fully welded ocnstruction with a rivetted foundation ring.

 

 

Weve just machined front tubeplate and firebox tubeplate inhouse on our Xyz cnc mill...all ready to set up for inspection.

Having already machined the front steam manifold base plate and welded into the tubeplate before machining tubes...

Also fitted is 2 off wash out plug bosses...all ndt completed

 

Using forged Throat Plate and Backhead, the new boiler, although fully welded will have the feel and look of a traditional boiler.

We are making steady progress and will look fwd to the day we can see the locomotive on steam once again.
