Boiler Stay Replacement

We were asked to provide coded welding for the replacement of boiler side stays for the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway, The Double Fairlie locomotive had been suffering from breaking and leaking boiler side stays.

 aApprox 86 stays have been replaced...these are welded stays on both firebox and outer wrapper..

Boston Lodge fitters drilled the exsisting stays out, with the help of a heritage apprentice, we refitted the new stays

All Tig welded to latest Bs En Iso 9606-1-2017 spec...

We have undertaken a new welding procedure to qualify our welders to this spec..

Boiler has now passed a Boiler Inspection and Hydraulic test
